After experiencing online bashing due to a skit he used in his recent concert, Vice Ganda seemed to have had the odds in his favor when he won the best actor award on Friday night. The recognition was given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) for his portrayal of the lead role in Jun Lana’s And The Breadwinner Is… The movie was part of last December’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Vice was not alone in his win, though. It was a tie between him and Arjo Atayde for the latter’s role in Topakk, which was also an entry in the MMFF 2024.
Meanwhile, Marian Rivera was the sole winner of the best actress award for her role as a teacher and election worker in the film Balota. The movie was part of last year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival.
Nadine Lustre, who was seated in the same table with Vice Ganda, won best supporting actress for her role in Uninvited (also an MMFF 2024 entry).
