John Eriq Bonifacio of the Philippines was crowned Mister Cosmopolitan 2026 during the international pageant’s grand final in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on September 12.
The victory gave the Philippines its first Mister Cosmopolitan title in the four-year history of the competition.
“The wait is over. The Philippines has its Mister Cosmopolitan,” Mister Pilipinas Worldwide announced shortly after Bonifacio’s victory.
John Bonifacio makes history for the Philippines
Bonifacio rose to the top of a field of 20 candidates representing countries and territories from around the world.
The 27-year-old model and culinary graduate represented Macabebe, Pampanga, at Mister Pilipinas Worldwide 2026. He earned the Mister Pilipinas Cosmopolitan title during the national pageant held in April before flying to Vietnam for his international assignment.
His victory continued a remarkable run for the Philippines at Mister Cosmopolitan. Ivan Aikon Ignacio finished second runner-up in 2023, while Emerson Gomez entered the Top 10 in 2024. Kenneth Marcelino came even closer to the crown when he placed first runner-up in 2025.
This time, Bonifacio completed the climb and brought the top title home.
Two preliminary awards for John Bonifacio
Bonifacio had already established himself as one of the strongest candidates before the grand final.
During the preliminary competition, he won Best Physique and Best Catwalk for his physical preparation, runway skills and commanding stage presence.
The two awards gave him early momentum, but it was his overall performance throughout the competition that eventually carried him to the Mister Cosmopolitan 2026 crown.
A new chapter in Philippine male pageantry
Bonifacio’s triumph adds another international crown to the Philippines’ growing record in male pageantry.
His win is especially significant because the Philippines had reached the Mister Cosmopolitan podium twice during the pageant’s first three editions without securing the main title.
Reigning winner Shawn Lin Yu Hsiang of Taiwan concluded his term as Bonifacio became the fourth Mister Cosmopolitan titleholder—and the first Filipino to wear the crown.
