Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga are set to work as a tandem again in the upcoming movie, Last Night, directed by Joyce Bernal and written by Bela Padilla.

Toni said what made her say yes to the project was the script, Piolo, and Direk Joyce, in that order.
The multimedia star revealed that Malou Santos of Star Cinema asked her last January if she’s ready to work with Piolo again after the blockbuster Starting Over Again (2014), and they both agreed that they need a good material for their reunion.
It was Piolo who first read Last Night‘s script, then passed it on to Toni to see if she’d like it. She said she read it in one sitting and immediately liked the story.
The Bela Padilla-penned screenplay has been described as a dark romantic comedy. Something new for both its lead stars, but Piolo explained that both he and Toni are not young anymore for “tweetums” roles. He also added that in this day and age, they have to serve “reality” to their audience.
