Everyone (at least those I know) is excited for the upcoming movie adaptation of Darna that will star Liza Soberano as the two-piece-donning Pinay superhero. It was supposed to be Angel Locsin but she had health issues while training for the role.
The movie is already years in preparation, and just when Liza’s fans thought everything’s going smooth, ABS-CBN has announced a new obstacle to the making of the movie – the director will be replaced.
“ABS-CBN, Star Cinema, and director Erik Matti have mutually decided to part ways in the filming of “Darna” because of creative differences,” the ABS-CBN press statement that was released on Thursday read.
But the fans need not worry because ABS-CBN and Star Cinema “are fully committed to bringing the iconic character to the big screen for today’s generation of moviegoers to witness the story of the well-loved Pinoy comics superhero.”
In other words, the movie will still push through even without Erik Matti.
And with that, “the new “Darna” director will be announced soon.”
