One thing that was born out of pandemic that I’m willing to embrace outside that era is the love story of Gavreel and Cairo in the Gameboys series (the first Boys’ Love series that I watched). I actually thought twice about watching it because, honestly, I found the BL idea a little cringy. But because it was lockdown and I had nothing better to do with my nights, I finally gave in to watching it late September of 2020, when the web series had already ended, so I was able to watch it in one sitting.

I can still remember how I cried from the first episode up to the last. Relate na relate. Just like the two main characters, I got hooked in an RPG game back in the day, and met some people online, which eventually led to meet-ups. I can proudly say that some of them are still my friends up to now.

I must admit, though, that I haven’t watched the Gameboys movie yet. I plan to do so before the series’ season 2 premiers this month.

Season 2, however, has a downside – it’s not for free anymore, unlike the first season which was free to watch on YouTube.

Gameboys Season 2 will be available on ktx.ph and Vivamax Plus, premiering first in the Philippines with 2 new episodes dropping every Sunday beginning May 22.

We have been seeing teasers since the last week of April, my favorite being “Gav’s hotdog.” Yes, they teased about Gav’s hotdog.

Gameboys season 2 stars Kokoy De Santos as Gavreel and the award-winning Elijah Canlas as Cairo, directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal from the script written by Ash M. Malanum.

Can’t wait.
